Shakespeare Recreation -- Working With a Partner
I particularly liked this assignment because it allowed for creativity and personal style, but in conjunction with somone else's ideas as well. I think the process of critiquing and working with a partner really helped a lot and opened my eyes to different aspects and principles of Desktop Design, layouts, and especially how to make something more aesthetically pleasing. Learning from others' mistakes was also extremely helpful. I learned a lot more about spacing, alignment, and balance of the pages.
Personally, I think a mix of my work and my partner's ideas would have produced the perfect ad. It seemed as though we were on opposite ends of the spectrum, and still both were good, but a mixture would have been the best option.

With more time and practice, finishing my recreation became much easier. I thought the reading was really interesting. It presented me with some facts I had never heard of, like a sentence in all Caps is harder to read than a regular sentence.
I never knew that there was a distinction between legibility and readability. After reading this homework assignment, I had an "a-ha" moment, when I remembered all these things I had seen and could draw parallels to.
Learning about readability and legibility is very important because in the world of desktop design, where everything is about visuals, people aren't going to want to spend time looking at something you created if it's difficult to read or illegible. I know that I would skip over something that took too much time/effort to read.

I feel as though I'm not as well acquainted with inDesign as I would like to be. I found myself getting lost on some things like fill and new pages, etc. I think it's harder to take notes on inDesign to refer back to, and so I think I mostly created this page through trial-and-error. I think the shapes were relatively easy, and placing pictures, but I had a lot of trouble, as I said, with the background color. I'm pretty sure I colored it a different way.
Starting out, I felt a little unsure, and as the project continued, I found out that I was right. However, by the end, I felt a little more confident in my navigational skills for inDesign.
